Marvelous vintage Neoclassic rocking chair by Lee Woodard comprised of a metal frame with an antiqued bronze finish and purposed … Read more Marvelous vintage Neoclassic rocking chair by Lee Woodard comprised of a metal frame with an antiqued bronze finish and purposed hammered look & burgundy, gold, & green striped velvet chenille fabric with button detail, black accents, & wood tread on the rocker tubes. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The brass plating is worn with a distressed look on the metal tube frame. Some parts look silver while other parts look brass, and it has purposefully dinged & rough welds. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Much like the band Twisted Sister…. I WANNA ROCK!!!! Don’t you? Of COURSE, you do! Especially when you check out this phenomenal vintage rocking chair by Lee Woodard!!! This is a FANTASTIC vintage rocking chair by Lee Woodard comprised of a metal frame with an antiqued bronze finish and a very symmetric purposed hammered look all over the metal tube. The side tubes are bent into a lovely swirl, and we LOVE the aged patina as the silver shows through in areas of the finish and almost looks purposeful… it’s very nicely worn. It also has purposed rough welds and black accents on the back bar, metal arm strap, and the stretcher between the rockers & a gorgeous wood tread on the rocker tubes. Now, let’s talk about this FABULOUS two-toned FABRIC!! The cushions are semi attached, and we believe it to be the original ribbed velvet chenille solid burgundy underneath and beautiful burgundy, gold, and green vertical stripes and button details on the top cushion, and matching arm rest cushions. It is beyond comfortable, versatile, and the EPITOME of vintage magnificence! It’s style “rocks” between Neoclassic, Campaign, and a bit Hollywood Regency and it is going to be wonderful in ANY room of your home!

For over 150 years, Woodard has been one of the industry leaders in classic outdoor patio furniture design, manufacturing, and distribution. They are committed to building modern outdoor to timeless classic outdoor and patio furniture. Lyman E Woodard purchased a lumber mill in Owosso, Michigan in 1866 and he and his three brothers founded Woodard Brothers which was a company that manufactured wood furniture, window blinds, door and window sashes, and caskets. In 1882 they created a second company called The Owosso Casket Company and in 1890 Lyman bought his brothers out of that company. Between 1890 and 1900 Lyman’s three sons and his son-in-law joins the business and in 1902 Woodard Brothers opened a planning mill and two more factories in order to make shipping more convenient. Lyman Woodard passed away in 1904 and his three sons and his son-in-law take over. In 1934 due to the Great Depression there was a depletion of hardwood and pine, so the company switched from caskets to making metal outdoor furniture. In 1938 the second and third generation Lee Woodard and his sons start Woodard and Sons where Lee is both a designer and creator of metal and wrought iron furniture. He drew National recognition for his work. Lee’s three sons Joseph, Russell, and Lyman II were all responsible for making their lines nationally and internationally known. After the war, in 1956 the Sculptura chair and the company thrived. In 1962 they introduced the Mayfield collection, and the First Lady Jackie Kennedy purchased from that collection. 1994, The Sculptura chair was added to the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s permanent collection and in 2016 Woodard celebrated it’s 150th Anniversary. They continue to produce sought after furniture today.
