An original pastel & crayon drawing
Equestrian themed, it features a polo player on galloping thoroughbred horse
It is clearly signed under the image Jean Bowman 1934
Jean Eleanor Bowman (1918-1994) was an American artist well known for her equestrian sport scenes and horse portraits. After finishing her art schooling in New York City, she held her first one-woman show in 1940 at Boston’s Vose Gallery. The artist maintained regular commissions from prominent horsemen of America, Ireland, and England, including members of the Royal Family. She co-founded the American Academy of Equine Art, which is in Georgetown, Kentucky.
