Iittala is a Helsinki-based glassworks company that was established in 1881 by Petrus Magnus Abrahamsson. Originally known as Glasbruks Aktiebolag, Iittala has expanded its product range in recent years to cookware, tableware and home décor.

Timo Sarpaneva (1926–2006) was one of Finland’s leading glass artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic design tradition aiming for clarity in shape that was as timeless, organic and “cool” as Scandinavian nature. After his art studies at the Institute for Industrial Arts in Helsinki, Timo worked for the Arabia factory for many decades. He became a prominent designer of iconic glass pieces like Festivo, Kayak, and Orchid. Timo’s artistry is represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries. less
