This 19th century thresing board, also known as threshing sledge or tribulum, was a primitive agricultural implement - farm tool used to separate cereals from their straw; having two thick wood planks with the frontal part somewhat narrower and curved upward (like a sled or sledge), and the bottom covered with partially inset hand-carved lithic stone flakes, now mounted on simple later wooden base.

Bold, substantial sculptural form, full of antique character and rustic charm, it makes for a fascinating and unusual piece!

Strong, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound. Presents splendidly, with beautifully aged weathered patina. Wear consistent with age and indicative of industrial use, including typical stone and wood losses. Overall a wonderful example!
