Description: Original antique icon of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. This icon was painted in the mid to late 19th … more Original antique icon of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. This icon was painted in the mid to late 19th century and like many icons of this era the image is decorated with a hammered brass covering over the faces and hands which are painted in oil on board. The wood frame is gilded and the entire painting is housed in hinged shadow box. The shadow box has been lined with a Russian newspaper from 1907. This is a stunning and moving piece and would be a unique piece to add to your collection.
