Decorative octagonal Chinese basket often known as a wedding basket, created in China during the late Qing Dynasty period in the early years of the 20th century, this decorative basket was conceived to deliver wedding jewelry gifts.
This traditional Chinese bamboo wood wedding basket reflects charming details, lacquered, the basket is hand painted with a delicate floral décor motifs surrounding the octagonal body topped with a lid and a large bamboo handle adorned with iron hardware attached at the top, and there is woven wire around the bottom edge and lid for added support.
Lacquer finish. Removable lid. Lid fits firmly.
Boasting a nicely weathered rustic appearance and delicate décor appearance revealing its use and good age, this Chinese late Qing Dynasty style lacquered basket has plenty of antique character.
