This Really is a Great Looking - Quite Rare & Unusual Authentic Antique American Checkerboard Game Set. Classic Victorian Style - Circa Late 19th Century. I was Informed at the Time That I Acquired this Piece that it Came From a Long Passed Family Member that was a Fireman in the Boston Area at Around the Late 19th to the Very Early 20th Century. Based on My Years of Dealing in Early Fireman & Firehouse Accessories the High Quality Substantially Heavy Construction, Thick Glass, Nickel Plated Solid Brass Frame and Original "Wall Hanger" Ring on the Back Would Also Indicate. NOTE That it has an Approx. Weight of Over 12 Pounds! ( Board Only - Not Including Checkers ). The Thick Plate Glass Board is Completely and Artistically Hand Decorated in the Classic Victorian "Reverse Painted" on the Underside Surface of the Glass Style. It Comes with Wonderful Complete and From the Same Era Matching Set of 30 Early Hard Molded Thermal Plastic - Gutta Type Material - Each Decorated with a Colorful Lithograph Crown. It Only Requires 12 White Checkers and 12 Black Checkers ( 24 Total ) to Set the Game so with 30 Being Included you Will have Some Extras. By the way The Checkers also Come with their Original Wood Storage Box. The Set is in Very Nice Overall Original Condition and Displays Beautifully. There is Some Very Light Honest Age and Use Wear - Tarnished Etc. but Nothing Major. Of Course it Could Also Be Used as a Chess Board. It has Newly Applied Thick Felt Padded Feet to Help Protect Surfaces.
NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYER! - THIS GAME BOARD WAS DESIGNED TO BE HUNG ON THE WALL WHEN NOT IN USE IN AS DECORATION BUT IT IS QUITE HEAVY WEIGHING OVER 12 POUNDS SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE STUD MOUNTED - STRONG AND SECURE HANGER OR NAIL
