These are utilitarian items that have been used and bear the signs of their age, as well as fading where the nutcracker rested in place (see photos), yet they have been thoroughly cleaned and gently revived with non-toxic oil and beeswax to nourish and preserve the wood. The tray edges and the nutcracker have some minor nicks, typical in nature, but there are no chips or cracks. Any wear is commensurate with their age. less

Digsmed Design was a small Danish design company that produced high quality household goods, primarily using teak, glass and cast iron during the 1960s and 1970s.
Among other products, Digsmed produced a range of trays, carving boards, lazy susans and spice racks, all with one common theme – a rotating wooden circle attached to an unseen base, and combined with glass bowls or dishes. They also designed candle holders with a rounded center of teak, with cast iron holders attached to the side of the teak centre.
The company collaborated with Holmegaard Glassworks for all the glass parts and Richard Nissen'sTrævarefabrik in Langå, Denmark, which produced parts of the teak products and the cast iron products.
The Digsmed Company ceased operations in 1975. less
