This Piero Fornasetti decorative plate is model 285 and features the face of Lina Cavalieri . She is glancing upwards to a mirror image of herself glancing upward. Lina Cavalieri was an Italian opera singer popular in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. Fornasetti read about her in a 19th century French magazine. From then on he included her image in over 350 of his works. She was his muse until he died in the 1980s.
