Banks of this type were given away by the post office and commercial banks to encourage individual savings. This bank is made of steel with brass fittings and lock door and retains its original key. While the original red painted surface exhibits a lot of wear, the surface is pleasing and the bank is in working condition. It bears the maker's mark, "Taylor Law & Co. Ltd. BHAM", and the stamp "Prov Pat 17722". It also has a serial number of 737224. In the event the key was lost, the post office could open the bank using the key indicated by the serial number. See less
