Famed for its imitation of Eero Saarinen’s much-loved Tulip Chair, the Dallas-based Burke Inc. never shied away from a little controversy. By altering the base of Saarinen’s chair from a circle to a propeller, Burke Inc. effectively avoided legalities from Knoll, though the change did little to squelch the ceaseless debate about whether or not vintage Burke chairs were used in the original sci-fi quest, Star Trek.
