Its style is primarily Neoclassical with its elegant bracket feet, but the convex curve to the molding along the edge of the top is a Classical design feature that emerged during this time period. This chest has a rich, dark finish that comes from being untouched for many years. Antique chests like this one can add so much character and warmth to a room!

Note: The top overhangs the back by an inch or so. This is an intentional technique on some antique chests so that the top will touch the wall over a chair rail. less
