A pair of fabulous T7 Tractor seat stools designed by Rodney Kinsman, a British designer, for his company OMK in 1971. Truly an avant-garde design in a highly desirable red color. These stools feature a seat made from an actual tractor seat mold, which is fixed to a cantilevered base of one inch chrome plated tubular steel, which exits from underneath the seat then rises up to form a double-width pedestal stem.
This design was originally an homage to the Mezzadro Stool designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1957 for Zanotta, Italy.
Rodney Kinsman RDI was born in London in 1943. He studied furniture design at Central School of Art now Central St Martin where he served as a governor for 12 years and is currently a visiting professor.
He founded OMK in 1965, one year after graduation and through his company designed and manufactured much of the furniture sold through Terence Conran' s Habitat stores in the 60's and 70's subsequently designing and licensing his furniture though the Italian factory Bieffeplast.
?
Rodney's aspiration has always been to design progressive furniture employing contemporary technology and using modern materials rather than simply following tradition.
?
Among his many awards and achievements, Rodney was made Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers in 1983, made Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 1988 and appointed a Royal Designer for Industry in 1990.
