Gorgeous pair of midcentury rattan and bamboo "lantern" wall lamps. These fantastic lamps were produced in the 1960s in france and are attributed to louis sognot. Hourglass shaped sconces were designed in the 1960s and are attributed to louis sognot. The sconces feature a beautiful hourglass shaped shade in curved rattan. A great example of french mid-century craftsmanship, where bamboo and rattan are perfectly blended, with the materials enhancing the vertical elements of the item. A stunning pair of wall lamps perfect for a midcentury outdoor project, as the fantastic french riviera flair will complete a porch or a garden. The lamps come wired with an e14 socket. Measures in cm: width - 14 depth - 16 height - 30 louis sognot was a french designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by art deco and cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic touch while still being usable. Born on may 25, 1892 in paris, france, sognot studied at école bernard-pablissy before working as a designer at the au printemps department store in paris in 1919. The designer became a founding member of the union des artistes decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in paris, france.
