This is a hand-painted and burnished glaze vintage 1970s horse figurine made in Tonalá, Jalisco Mexico, a province renowned for its earth-tone clay and for all the pottery and ceramic art created since the 1950s.
More vivid and multi-colored than the typical pottery that uses only natural earth-toned paints made from plants, flowers, herbs, and other organic ingredients, these horse figurines are coin banks that are typically painted depicting elaborate saddles on their backs (where the coin slot is located) and flowers or other motifs on their chests.
It measures: approximately 6" x 2 5/8" x 7 5/8". less
