Inside the box there are ten (2 stacks of 5 with 2 lids) small lacquered bentō boxes stacked, at the very bottom there is a small shallow drawer meant for the 'Hashi' or Japanese chopsticks.
The box is hand-dated at the bottom in ink: Meiji 35 or 1902 in our dating.
Box dimensions: height 30 cm, width 20.5 cm and depth 21 cm.
Dimensions bentō: height 4 cm, width 9 cm, depth 18 cm.
A rare object with decorative value. Also very beautiful and useful as unique jewellery storage furniture. less
