Description: An original oil painting on a masonite panel by Lars Boethius, Swedish artist 1903-1968, "A Swedish Coastal Landscape" scene of … more An original oil painting on a masonite panel by Lars Boethius, Swedish artist 1903-1968, "A Swedish Coastal Landscape" scene of a rock out cropping along the coast during a summer's day, the sea beyond and a peninsula in the background, 10 5/8" x 13 5/8", signed Lars Boethius in the lower left corner front, an old label is on the back of the panel, probably executed in the 1950's or 1960's, CA number 3910, CA purchased from a south of England auction house winter of 2023. The colors are exceptionally vibrant and clear.
The frame is original to the work, 2 1/2" width, gilded, molded decoration with an ivory panel. Due to age and wear the frame shows numerous cracks in the molding, as documented. These cracks have been stabilized and do not interfere with the structure of the frame, they only add to the patina.
The painting has been cleaned and varnished. less
