All plating is intact with the exception of a small 3/8 inch by 1/8 inch loss on the interior of the second coaster. Each coaster is rimmed in the typical Georgian rope design and the front chassi allows the wagon to turn left or right. These bottle wagons were used extensively in early 19th Century England to transport the after dinner port and sherry around the dining table, when the gentlemen remained at the table and the ladies retired to the drawing room. Although there are no hallmarks, I found an identical wine wagon in: [1949] The Book of Sheffield Plate, Wilder, Seymour B. page drinking articles that demonstrates the wagon was made in 1820. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Length from end to end=13 inches, Width at widest=5-3/8 inches, Height from top to bottom=3 inches. This marvelous twin wine wagon has been well care for, gently used and is in excellent antique condition. The wagon is sturdy with all moving parts in working order. All plating is intact with the exception of a small 3/8 inch by 1/8 loss on the interior of the second coaster. There are scratches on the underside of the wagon, due to testing for silver content. Neither impact the beauty or usability of these twin wine coaster. This unique twin wine wagon is the perfect addition to your silver serving collection, particularly if you like the Georgian style! less
