Carpeaux, stamped with the PROPRIETE CARPEAUX eagle and ATELIER & DEPOT / 71 RUE BOILEAU / AUTEUIL PARIS and numbered 952. This figure has a long life in a patio area and is maintained by waxing and polishing routines, now the built-up waxes show flaking and discoloring areas, with no cracks or chips to this very fine figure. Immediately famous when introduced by Carpeaux in 1864, the maiden is signed in wet clay by Carpeaux and stamped with edition numbers. A large and lively image with much in common with his Paris Opera works. See less
