This rare 19th century wicker hat/coat stand features a very unusual loosely woven braid over a central flat reed wrapped wooden pole. There are six pegs for hanging with intricately woven ends. The three dimensional base is a work of art.
From a world renowned American collector who provided most of the pieces to the 1993 American Wicker Retrospective at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC.
