Spots that appear as discolorations are reflections of other objects nearby. There are some surface scratches to the glaze on the top of the bowl (see last pic). Upon examination with a magnifying glass I was able to se some light crazing along the sides of the bowl, but not obvious to the naked eye. Sticker residue from a previous tag is present on the back. less

A stunning and rare French Sèvres pottery jade green glazed, sixteen inch, ceramic centerpiece by Paul Jean Milet. The shallow, scalloped edge, round bowl centerpiece features a stunning jade green glaze. Marked PM for Paul Millet and Sevres, within a dotted circle and Made in France. This marking was used starting in 1931.
H I S T O R Y:
Paul Jean Milet was the son of Felix Optatus Milet who began his career as a modeler for Sèvres in 1862, and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. Paul Milet entered his father's pottery workshop in the town of Sèvres in 1894 and for the next 36 years produced high-quality ceramics sold through Parisian shops and interior decorators. Because his aesthetic preferences kept pace with the fashions of the era, his early works favored the ornamentation associated with the Art Nouveau movement. By comparison, his later work is streamlined, with simple forms glazed in high-contrast bold jazz-age colors indicative of the Art Deco era. less
