Rare goldscheider art deco ceramic figurine: representation of an elegant, standing lady in a dress with a wide flounced skirt with a stylized flower pattern in violet and rose tones, red roses adorn her shoulder-length hair, a wide-brimmed hat plays around her face, she holds both hands in a beige muff in front of her. The figure is based on a black oval base. Manufactory: goldscheider vienna / austria technique: hand crafted ceramics, finest hand painting, glossy finish designer: claire weiss /= klára herczeg (1906-1997) sculptor, childhood in vienna, apprenticeship as a sculptor in the arsenal foundry in vienna, 1924-1928 at the budapest art school, then studied porcelain sculpture in berlin, designs for several factories. The model called 'muff' was created circa 1930/31 dating of manufacture: circa 1932 dimensions: height: 31.5 cm / 12.40 in width: 17.0 cm / 6.69 in depth: 9.5 cm / 3.74 in marks: model number 6328 / 72 / 10 goldscheider wien (vienna) manufactory stamp made in austria / hand-decorated painter's and former's signs existing artist's signature on the back on the hem of the dress bibliography: dechant / goldscheider: goldscheider history of the company and catalogue of works, stuttgart (germany), 2007, page 428, number 6328 condition: excellent.
