This Handmade Porcelain Ceramic Saki Set with Tray was made by and glazed by Dan Vito at Fireborn Studios in Pittsburgh, PA. The Shino glaze that he has developed is a high sodium “carbon trap” glaze. During the early reduction stages of the firing, at about 1500º Fahrenheit, carbon atoms attach to the high amount of sodium in the glaze, creating a multitude of colors and patterns. Additionally, Dan Vito's signature is on the bottom of both cups and tray.
The tray is 7.5" x 11" in size. The cups are 2.5" at their base and 3.25" high. You can use these cups for hot saki or for tea. The set can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.
The Saki Set was a gift that was used for decoration in my home - not for function. It has not been used for drinking. less
