This vintage 5x13 Persian Kilim is believed to be a tribal rug from Meshkin—a small northwestern Iranian village known for its fabulous works. Handwoven in wool, it originates circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
The playful design prefers a midnight blue field with red geometric patterns and vibrant accents in a very finely woven repeat. Keen eyes will further admire the liveliness these hues enjoy on such a dark background, and their sense of movement therein. This is an exemplary choice among flatweaves of its provenance, and of versatile size with vast applications.
Condition:
This mid-century Northwest Persian Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. less
