Description: For your consideration is rare and extremely hard to find antique sterling silver Pigeon Champion Trophy. This trophy is from … more For your consideration is rare and extremely hard to find antique sterling silver Pigeon Champion Trophy. This trophy is from the old Empire City Flying Club of New York and it is dated 1892. It weights 641 grams and measures 9.5" high by 5 1/4" wide. It is in pretty good antique condition with expected signs of wear, consistent with its age. There are some scratches on the bottom and on the side, made for the purpose of testing it for sterling, even though it is clearly marked with the Wood & Hughes' firm of New York (1845-1899) hallmark. Also, inside the trophy there are two indentations that look like bumps, but they were caused by the pressure exerted when the feathers supporting the top of the trophy were added. This is a great piece for a serious collector!!! less
