- We are offering an original and hard to find large oil on canvas painting by internationally acclaimed Dominican artist Julio … more We are offering an original and hard to find large oil on canvas painting by internationally acclaimed Dominican artist Julio Susana. This artwork is signed on the lower left, and dated '87. It measures 42" by 30" with the frame, and approximately 36" by 24" without the frame. The painting is in great condition but there are signs of wear on the mat and frame, as shown on the last two (2) photos (not a big deal). Mr. Susana moved from Dominican Republic to New York later in life where he displayed his work at galleries and museums. He also founded an Academy of Arts at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History and exhibited his paintings at the United Nations. He has been honored with the 40th Anniversary Peace Medal by the United Nations and honored with an award from the White House for his remarkable artistic achievements, among others recognitions and awards. In the 1980's, he moved to Miami, Florida and taught at Miami-Dade College while exhibiting his work throughout South Florida. less
