Sciacca Antonio (Catania, 1957)
Antonio Sciacca is an Italian artist from Catania with a degree in art. During his artistic career he met and befriended artists such as Burri and Bacon. In the 1980s he received recognition from critic Alberico Sala, who works for Corriere della Sera. In the 1990s he founded a painting movement, called "Metropolism," in which he devoted himself to social issues such as consumerism and "status symbols." Among the many exhibitions related to Metropolism, the most important was the one organized in Madrid at the Institute of Italian Culture and the one held in 2000 at the Museo del Risorgimento Vittoriano, presented by critic Achille Bonito Oliva.
