Rare goldscheider art deco ceramic figure of the 1920's: representation of a dancer in pose. She wears a headdress that tapers to a point at the front and frames her face, and a short, strapless dress with long fringes. With her upper body inclined and looking to the right, she holds a scarf behind her with arms outstretched to the side, which is decorated on the front with elaborate, colored floral decorations. The figure is based on a black, stepped round base, artist's signature 'laurenzl' on the back of the scarf, below. Designed by josef lorenzl (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers who worked for the goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920-1940. This model 5543 was created circa 1925.
