Decor: Phaenomen Genre 358. Designed by: Franz Hofsto¨tter (1871-1958).
Franz J. Hofstötter was a German artist who worked at end of 19th century as well as in very early 20th century mainly on behalf of public communities. He created for example configurations and decorations for churches in Germany (church of Holy Heart in Ludwigsthal and church Saint Joseph in Weiden/Oberpfalz). After end of First World War Hofstötter worked only for private clients. The artist had studied in Munich (painting, sculpture and architecture) / Hofstötter worked on behalf of Lötz Manufactory (Boehmia / Klostermu¨hle) in period as from 1896 until 1911, having designed most interesting glass items as well as female portraits made of glass: For this reason he received an accolade from jury of Paris World Exhibition 1900.
This finest Loetz Art Nouveau casing glass vase with Decoration Phaenomen Genre 358 is of tapering form type: It is based on round as well as slightly hollow foot from which the hollow glass part is growing out / there are vertical ridges melted upon surface. The iridescent vase (mat type) is made as following: It is opal shaded underneath, whereas silver-yellow threads are spun around - these are warped at top area (beneath round mouth). Finally, there are further interesting decorations existing, which are melted on part below, having been made of brown-dark violet-yellow-colored as well as tongue-shaped ornaments.
