This beautiful tongs are shaped like the ice picks used to put up large blocks of ice, prior to refrigeration. They have a scissors like mechanic that allows you to squeeze the finger grips together to pick up the sugar cube. Roger, Lunt and Bowlen manufactured sterling silver items in Greenfield, MA from 1921-1954. Hallmarks read: R, L, B, each in a square box, Sterling, 102/1." Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Open width=3-1/4 inches, Height from top to bottom=1-3/4 inches, Closed width=1-1/2 inches, Height=3 inches. These beautiful sugar nips have been well cared for, gently used and are in excellent antique condition, with scissors mechanism working well. There are some superficial scratches that do not impact the beauty or utility of these wonderful nips.
