This is truly, truly an exceptional set of MCM glassware! Designed by Fran Taylor, who was the artist behind Gay Fad Studios, this pattern is everything that the mid-century era was all about! From the style of the artwork, to the warm earth toned pink/coral with gold, down to the motif in general – liquor bottles/ liquor decanters! The 1950s was all about the celebration of the cocktail - and these glasses are exactly that!
Titled the “Bordeaux” pattern, this set of highball glasses features a collection of decorative liquor decanters and cocktail glasses all adorned in stripes, dots, atomic, MCM like shapes and patterns. The decanters have decorative gold tags tied around them sporting the names of different liquors, wines, spirits, elixirs and mixers! Specifically, the tags read: Brandy, Vermouth, Angostura, Rose, and Crème. The colors include a warm, coral pink color accented with 2 different finishes of gold; mirror gold and a more matted finish of gold (appears to have been screen-printed to achieve this finish, but that’s just my assumption) and a shiny gold rim around the top.

**HANDWASH ONLY** Due to the age and antique make of these items, I recommend using only a soft cloth, mild dish detergent and warm water when washing this item. Be gentle when washing and check first on a small inconspicuous area that using your cleaning tool of choice will not weather the glasses or their decoration any more than may already be. Remember, vintage and authentic means its old and needs gentle care to maintain its beauty!!

I’m not kidding. With the exception of some very small signs of wear around the gold rim at the top (which I had to look hard for! See pictures) the glasses appear to be completely untouched and unused – unheard of for glassware that is 75-85 years old! The rack condition is to be expected for having a brass/ gold plated finish and be of its age… some small signs of rust or oxidation on it, slight tarnishing. See pictures. Based on the condition that the glasses are in, and that the “Bordeaux” pattern this is one of the hardest and most rare Gay Fad patterns to find today, these glasses are a true unicorn in glassware! I have a very deep love for vintage MCM glass and tableware, and out of all I’ve studied, collected, and seen, this set holds a special place in my heart – you wont find another like this! All items are pre-owned unless otherwise stated in the item description. I do my best to provide an assessment of the condition of each item, but in addition to reviewing the description, please use the photos to view the item in detail.
