Circa Early to Mid … Read more This Really is a Great Looking Antique Early American Blue Decorated Stoneware Storage Jar - Crock. Circa Early to Mid 19th Century. This 10 1/2 Inches Tall Jar is Completely Hand Made. It has a Total of 3 Hand Decorated Cobalt - Navy Blue Sideways "Fern" Decorations Around the Upper Perimeter on a Classic Salt Glaze Exterior. These These Jars were Typically Used for Jelly's & Jams - Preserved Fruits - Vegetables Etc. It has No Maker Marks but I did Purchase it on one of my Recent Picking Adventures in the Lancaster Pennsylvania Region and I Believe that it Could be from that Area or Possibly Maryland. It is in Very Good Cosmetic - Structurally Strong - Sound Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has No Cracks - No Repairs. The Smallest Decoration has a Minor Kiln Surface Glaze Imperfection that Absolutely Would Have Occurred in the Making - Firing Process. It has 1 Small Chip at the Top Outer Rim - Perimeter - See Listing Photographs. Stoneware Pieces Such as These were Made for Utilitarian Purposes and These types of Flaws are Quite Common Since These Pieces were Made in Batches and Fired in Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time. It would be Great in Country Primitive Style Kitchen to Store and Display Wooden Spoons - Utensils Etc. Truly a Classic Piece of Early Americana.
It Measures Overall Approx. 10 1/2 inches Tall 6 3/4 inches Wide - Long.
