Artist's Statement
As a self-taught artist, my art career developed from the time I was a child. Growing up on a ranch in Colorado was inspirational and graced me with many beautiful subjects to paint. I spent hours drawing, painting, learning and longing to become an experienced artist who would be recognized for my God given talent. My inspiration came from a Norman Rockwell table book my grandparents had. His beautiful paintings inspired me and I would draw for hours as a child trying to be just like him. It was the start of my life's journey and where it lead always kept me coming back to what I loved the most, my art. I pursued my art career working as a freelance illustrator and art director. I worked in Hollywood on film and television projects and started my own video and film production salon. Hollywood is not a place that appreciates beautiful art and talent. It ends up taking more from you than it gives. But it gave me experience of a different kind. It was harsh and at times, cruel. But it pushed me to be better, to learn more and I did. I eventually left the industry and continued to pursue my individual art career. Stepping out on my own, I was fortunate to create many interesting art projects for very famous individuals. I was being recognized again for my illustrations. California is another beautiful place to call home, but again, the mountains were truly my home. I returned to Colorado and continued to paint the beautiful aspens and homesteads that grace the mountains. I am a native to Colorado so many of my works have been placed in homes in Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Santa Fe, and Taos. I was selected to have my work displayed in the Masters Galleries and was one of the first unknown artists they displayed in years of business. It was an honor to have my working on display next to an original Norman Rockwell. It was truly the thrill of my lifetime. What the journey of life has taught me is that you can never paint long enough or hard enough. Each painting is an expression of what is deep in your soul and bringing it to the canvas is pure heaven. I have traveled and painted from California, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and other states throughout the West. Life has not always been easy as an artist. During the very difficult periods in my life, I believe that my art has saved me. It has moved me through the tough times and brought new opportunities to light. I am truly grateful for this wonderful gift I have been given. It has been a true joy and a path of light my heart longs for. When you look into the canvases I create, it truly represents years of good times, tough times and a determination to become the best at what I do. Deep in those paintings are my life's story that I long to share with you. Thank you for letting me share it with you. Enjoy. less
