Description: The good looking pair of side tables is made of a special wood with interesting wood grains.. The wood - … more The good looking pair of side tables is made of a special wood with interesting wood grains.. The wood - jiajingmu is a rare hardwood that is found only in the Nanjing area in the province of Jiangsu. (This information came from a Chinese furniture maker in Southern China, he was sincere though there was no way for me to check for accuracy.) The wood has distinctive wood grains and burls that are not found in other furniture wood. The open look of the tables belong to a style long established in the Ming Dynasty CE 1279 to 1644. The table tops are moving panels in a mitered construction with straight legs supported in the base by bridge stretchers. The wood grains on the table tops have interesting patterns. The only decoration are pairs of abstract cloud design spandrels, giving the tables a look of simple elegance. less
