Dino Savio earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Fulbright Scholarship to Italy. When he went to Italy, he was overwhelmed by what he saw and heard. He was there to study design, but after seeing all the unbelievable art in the museums and cathedrals, something ignited within him that motivated him to also become a painter. He wanted to take all the power, the color, and the drama that he saw and reconstruct it in a more expressionistic way. It was a dream that took years to fully develop. Though his design career flourished, Dino continued to paint and exhibit whenever possible.
He spent time working with several world renown artists and designers in Italy, California, New York City and Connecticut. Afterward he opened an industrial design firm in Connecticut and later in Florida. Then in 2019, he moved to Richmond Hill, GA where he now devotes all his time to painting and printmaking.
His work is based on a building process that ultimately produces images that are at times impressionistic, but more often expressionistic. He is easily moved by the things he knows and sees around him.
He paints mostly on canvas or wood panels, in both oil and acrylic. He also does relief paintings, enhanced monotypes and etchings. less
