A finely carved Art Deco style ram's head sculpture mounted on a polychromed wood plinth created by a Richmond Professional Institute art student in the 1950s. In 1968 Richmond Professional Institute's name was changed to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and the school is now home of the VCU Rams Basketball Team. The ram's head motif is the university's official logo and mascot. This ram's head sculpture is a great piece of RPI/VCU history. Provenance - Estate of: Robert Maurice Jean Ullman, AIA. Mary Martin Smithwick Ullman, ASID. Richmond, Virginia. less
