The lithograph print exhibition poster is published by The Victoria and Albert Museum London, printed in 1972 in England for HMSO by Moore and Matthes Ltd. in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. Poster designed by HMSO / Peter Branfield.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) The French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Victoria and Albert Museum located in London, is the world's largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts and design, housing an impressive collection of over 2.7 million objects. The museum was founded in 1852 named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The rare out print lithograph print framed exhibition poster measures 19 3/8" W X 29 1/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish copper tone metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling and light to moderate surface wear.
