A very rare vase with a nice multi-colored salt drip glaze by Roger Guérin (1896-1954). The famous potter from the village of Bouffioulx near Charleroi Belgium. The vase is signed Guérin and it is model number 341. Amongst the small group of collectors with huge Bouffioulx stoneware collections only one vase of this model is known. Several more must have been made but they never showed up so far. The vase in hand-thrown stoneware was made around 1925-1930.
In 1918 Roger Guérin took over l'Escarboucle, the pottery of his father in law the painter and potter Willem Delsaux. In the years that followed Guerin turned it into one of the leading Belgian potteries during the first half of the century.
The large vase stands 27,4 cm tall and has a diameter of 23 cm. That's 10,79 inches high and 9,06 inches wide. It is in excellent condition.
