This Really is a Great Looking - Very Unusual Authentic Vintage Wood Marching Snare Drum. It Comes From The Tail End of the Vaudevillian Era - Circa Approx. 1930s. The Front is Hand Painted with the Names of the Actual Musicians - The Young's "Gen" and Ralph ( Most Likely a Husband and Wide Duo ) so that it Could Be Used it as a Stage Prop During Their Performances. It was Not Actually Used as a Instrument as Originally Intended. The Drum was American Made by The Well Known and Documented Ludwig Musical Instrument Company. The The Bent Wood Top Rims and Interior are Made Out of Solid Maple Wood - The Exterior Having a Genuine Mahogany Wood Skin - Wrap. It has 10 Adjustable Tension "Lugs" - Assemblies That are made Out of a Combination of Nickel Plated Brass and Steel. It is Missing Most of Parts to the Snare Mechanism "Throw Off" at At the Lower - Underside Area. It has a Wonderful Authentic Old Look - Great Patina - Displays Beautifully. It could be Used - Displayed in any Number of ways Including a piece of Wall Decor. Or it Could Used as a Small Table or Stand if You Just Have a Piece of Glass Cut to Fit and Set in to the Top Rim Over Gen & Ralph. This Would Strengthen The Usability For Some Slightly Heavy Pieces as Well as Preserve and Protect the Original Painted Skin Drum Head. and use it as a Little Side Small Table. Truly a Wonderful Original Piece of Early 20th Century Folk Theatrical - Musical Americana.
