Professor Ugo Lucerni was one of the most prolific potters working in Italy at mid-century producing tiles and decorative wall panels depicting classical mythological themes and archaic hunting and battle scenes. The greek myth of "Diana Banishing a Fallen Maiden" is depicted in this ceramic wall panel in a polychromed high glaze with an incised signature on the front. Lucerni received strong support from architect and publisher of Domus magazine, Gio Ponti early in his career. Throughout his career Lucerni participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and his work has recently been featured in the publications "Novecento Ceramiche Italiane Protagonisti E Opere Del XX Secolo" volume 2 and the exhibition catalog " The Hockemeyer Collection 20th Century Italian Ceramic Art." less
