There is no damage of note and no signs of aging that I could determine through inspection. There is one spot of missing glaze, which is often caused during the firing process, along the interior of the vase’s mouth. It has the appearance of a slight discoloration, there is a small pin head sized black dot and a bare area where the surface is matte instead of the glossy finish that covers the entirety of the remainder of the vase’s surface, but this imperfection was created during the production of the vase & is not due to age or damage. less

This vase is a glossy white color with a blue trim around the opening. The front of the vase features a detailed depiction of the intersection of two stone bridges over a body of water as well as stone structures and foliage along the bank of the body of water. The script reads “ Y Bridge City, Zanesville, Ohio” and sports , on its surface, a hand-painted depiction of the world famous Y shaped bridge that stands across the Muskingum River in Zanesville, Ohio. The Y bridge was completed in 1814 , it was reconstructed and reinforced multiple times. There have been 5 Y bridges built in the same spot over the years. The fifth and current incarnation of the Zanesville Y bridge held its opening ceremony on November 9th, 1984. I believe that the image of the bridge depicted on this vase is a red presentation of the 4th Y bridge which stood from 1902-1979, that is the version that this painting most accurately resembles. less
