A beautiful and sturdy Ming-style opium bed from the Qing dynasty with a woven top, carved elmwood frame, short legs and classic hoof feet. The bed's exquisitely geometric carved side and back panels are eye-catching from any angle. The panels are detachable and the platform is wide enough for comfortably reclining or sleeping. These traditional Chinese hardwood opium beds were originally found in opium dens topped with a thin cushion where patrons indulged in the pharmacological effects of opium use.
