A very rare and beautiful polychrome plate, Dutch Delftware, second quarter of the 18th century, circa 1740, decorated in the soft tone 'grand feu' colors yellow, red, green, manganese and under-glaze blue, after a Chinese Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period (1662-1722). 'Famille Verte' example, with a central scene of a Chinese Lady, seated in a typical Oriental garden, feeding two chickens, all within a border with five panels, decorated with flowers and stylized rock work, against a diaper background. High quality Dutch Delftware objects like these were almost always used for decorative purposes only. Delft knew a vast productions of wares actually for use in the late 17th and 18th century and a smaller production of decorative objects. Delft was very international with many superb quality items made for the French and English royal courts. less
