It is 36 inches high at the crest with a seat height of 19 inches. It is also 19 inches deep. It would be stunning in an entryway or at the foot of your bed. We believe that the wood is elm, which is common in Asian furniture. The serpentine top and bottom rails are accented by a beautiful gilt fretwork splat. The lovely wood patina is original. We discovered this lovely Asian settee at an upscale estate in southern Virginia. It was in impeccable condition, although the upholstery was stained in a spot or two. We replaced the upholstery with a deep turquoise silk blend fabric. (Most admirers have assumed it to be pure silk, but it is much more durable than 100% silk. They have variously described the color as turquoise, peacock, and teal blue.) less
