This is very good looking cabinet made by the absolute legend and genius who is Maurice Adams. Maurice Adams saw himself as the natural successor to the great antique furniture makers of the eighteenth century and had ambitious plans for 20th-century British interior design including his proposed 'Maurice Adams House' in which the architecture and interior furnishings would be designed entirely by Adams in a streamlined Georgian style. All of Adams's furniture is made by hand in Gloucester, England and displayed in Adams's showroom in Portman Square, London. This piece is very substantial, it has a glorious patina that looks amazing from any angle; it can glisten and the back is fully labelled as you would hope to find it. This really is a statement piece. It's been waxed and polished from top to bottom and it shows normal patina from age and normal use. Burl veneer shows natural creasing and light separations which in no way interferes with the sound structure of this very attractive and functional piece of furniture. Adams designed this demilune chest with slight cabriole legs with Art Deco inspirations where leg and cabinet meet. Maintains all original details including the patinated door pull and multiple labels on the back side shown in the images included. Great for an entrance way, a dining room, living room, bedroom; great as a blanket chest and as a bar. So many uses for this functional beauty even just to display; it will be admired. less
