This Piet Mondrian vintage 1970 Modernist lithograph print " Composition No. 6 " 1914, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
Piet Mondrian ( 1872 - 1944 ) was a Dutch born Abstract Modernist painter and art theorist. He is considered to be one of the most important Abstract Modern artists of all time. He evolved a non-representational form which termed Neoplasticism. Influenced by Cubism, the early Modernist Geometric art works were considered quite Avant-Garde for the time in which they were created. Artworks by Mondrian are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The lithograph print was printed in Japan in 1970. It is a page from an authentic vintage artists publication published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers, New York. It features an artwork image originally created by Mondrian in 1914 titled " Composition No. 6 ". The print plate image is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached to the page by hand on three corners. The print is suitable for framing.
The lithograph print plate image measures 6 1/4" W X 9" H, on a page that is 9 1/4" W X 12 1/2" H. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image.
It is in excellent clean vintage condition with very light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
