Beautifully weathered patina Chinese export lacquered coromandel screen with six double sided panels. The screen features a mountain landscape on one side and an idyllic pavilion landscape on the other. The pavilion scene features a fertility style depiction of young boys at play amid a plush garden landscape. Each panel is incised and painted with colorful pigments that have an intentionally faded and distressed finish on the lacquer with craquelure. The panels are supported by straight legs with patinated brass clad feet. The red lacquer has faded into a rich, dark burgundy and caramel tones full of charm and character. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
