Round shaped lidded opium container box, hand crafted and hand painted wooden box with brass fittings
Opium container handcrafted from a piece of wood, hand painted lacquered in dark red with black foliage design.
The opium boxes from India usually had narrow mouths to prevent the opium mixed liquid from evaporating or drying up.
This kind container were used all over Asia, Tibet, China, Malaysia to store tobacco or opium.
