Description: Large Chinese porcelain marine life jar, with a blue and white glazed exterior, white glazed interior and inset base. The … more Large Chinese porcelain marine life jar, with a blue and white glazed exterior, white glazed interior and inset base. The body of the jar is decorated with finely drawn depictions of marine life and aquatic plants amid a background of ocean waves. The rim is glazed in blue and the short neck is banded by sinuous, flowering vines bracketed by double, blue trim lines. The top of the jar below the neck is banded by branching, leafy, floral medallions alternating with halved, lotus flower dividers. The foot is banded by large, Ru Yi lappets. A blue, six character, Wanli reign mark within double blue circles is glazed to the inset base. The traditional, Chinese, finely carved, hongmu, circular stand is included. Circa late 19th century, no later than early 20th.
