This vessel features a simple classical form, with a matte, variegated off-white-to-brown speckled glaze that subtly reveals the fine throwing lines, that slowly dissolve into a base of mottled earth tone colors. The inside of the bowl is a rich, off-white-to-brown speckled glaze, and a sgraffito spiral turned swirl pattern.
The vessel appears to be signed by Shapiro, but I am not sure. Please see the enlarged signature to come to your own conclusion.
The glaze and simple form appear to have been influenced by the work of Vivika & Otto Heino. This is the work of a truly accomplished artist.
The vessel is in excellent vintage condition, with NO chips or cracks. This Art Pottery is the PERFECT addition to your Mid-Century Modern Art Pottery collection.
